The Campbell Park Library Information Center is an inviting place where students can read, check out books, and enrich their knowledge of curriculum by exploring educational websites.
Students are encouraged to read and participate in the Reading Counts program. Many books in the Library are Reading Counts books. If a student reads one, they may take the quiz on it and earn points.
Junior Jousters
The Campbell Park Library Information Center is pleased to announce its participation, for the second year, in two literacy programs targeted at Kindergarten through second grade students.
The first is Junior Jousters, a primary version of Battle of the Books. This is for second graders only. Students will read the books and compete in a Jeopardy-style quiz competition in the spring; complete with a buzzer system! We anticipate that each classroom will have smaller battles to determine their final competing teams.
The second is participation in the Children’s Book Award election, sponsored by the Florida Reading Association. Using the same list we use for the Battle, students will vote statewide for their favorite. The winning book will be announced in the spring.
We are in the process of soliciting donations of copies of each book to house in your child’s classroom. Can you help?

Battle of the Books
Campbell Park students in grades three through five also participate in the annual Pinellas County Battle of the Books. They read the 15 Sunshine State Young Reader Award books and compete in a quiz bowl with students from other elementary schools in the county.

Educational Media Awards
This annual event encourages students to communicate through media production. Students experience a positive educational learning experience as they create their video production. Beginning with the district competition, student-created video productions are eligible for further competitions with the possibility of national and international exposure and awards.
